As summer sprung into action, our Beaver Scouts embraced new challenges, discoveries, and plenty of fun. From hands-on learning about disabilities to exploring woodlands and enjoying a day of thrills, here’s a snapshot of what our Beavers got up to in June.
2nd June: Disability Badge
Willow brought one of the work vehicles she drives along to a meeting night and gave the Beavers an up-close look at how it operates. The children learned about physical disabilities, tried the mobility ramp, and discussed how vehicles and equipment can be adapted to help everyone feel included.
9th June: Animal Friend Badge
Pine introduced her two well-behaved, much loved dogs to the group so the Beavers could earn their Animal Friend badge. They discovered each dog’s needs—what they eat, where they sleep, how much space and exercise they require—and practised gentle handling and care. The Beavers were thrilled to make two new furry friends in this first session of animal care working towards the Animal Friend badge.
16th June: Explore Badge
Equipped with clipboards and pencils, the Beavers predicted what wildlife and plants they might find in Squirrel Wood. After a 75-minute trek through the trees and undergrowth, they gathered again to record their real discoveries then compared notes against their original guesses.
22nd June: Day Trip to Gulliver’s Valley
For a thrilling change of pace, the Beavers spent a sunny day at Gulliver’s Valley theme park. They had a fabulous adventure enjoying all that Gulliver’s has to offer —wrapping up a busy month with laughter and smiles all round.
